Bishop Michael Marshall

Consecrated as Bishop of Woolwich in 1975, Bishop Michael, after ten years, subsequently served as bishop in America as the Founding Director of the Anglican Institute until 1992 when he returned to the UK as Adviser in Evangelism to the Archbishops of Canterbury and York. From 1997 until 2007 he served as Rector of Holy Trinity Church, Sloane Square where along with The Rev'd Nadim Nassar he founded the Trinity Foundation for Christianity & Culture - an educational foundation seeking to equip Christians to live out their faith in a multi-cultural, multi-faith society. Renamed the Awareness Foundation in 2008, the Bishop still serves as its Founding President as well as being an honorary Assistant Bishop in the Diocese of London. He retired from Holy Trinity after ten years in 2007 and together with The Rev'd Soon Han Choi established a mid-week ministry SPA (Scripture Prayer Action) which was based in the Annunciation, Marble Arch, open throughout the week for prayer, spiritual refreshment and bible study. This midweek ministry was mainly directed at the many people who work, shop or stay in the hotels of the area. It was also hoped that clergy would feel able to recommend the midweek ministry to members of their congregations who worked in the immediate area.

The Reverend Soon Han Choi

Soon & his sister Ok-Ran on the steps of St Paul's Cathedral London, July 2010 Soon Han was born in Korea and is now a British citizen. Following his studies in Korea where he gained a BA, and his work for the Baptist church in Seoul, Soon Han travelled to England where he studied for and was awarded an MA in Theology and Biblical Studies from Surrey University in 1999. He has served in a number of churches in London including St Luke's in Earls Court, St Mary Abbots in Kensington and Holy Trinity Church in Sloane Square. He is particularly drawn to prayer and was excited about the challenge and opportunity to expand the possibilities of prayer life in differing traditions through the establishment of a mid-week ministry (SPA) at the church of the Annunciation. Over the previous two years at Holy Trinity, Soon had established and developed an approach to prayer and praise through a music ministry which is an integral part of this new initiative at SPA.
The many people who have experienced over the past years the ministry of Soon Han, will be delighted to know that his calling to the ministry was recognised and authorised by the Bishop of London who ordained Soon to the Diaconate at the Ordination in St. Paul's Cathedral at Petertide, on July 3rd, 2010 and in May 2013 Soon was ordained priest in New York by the Bishop of New York at the request of the Bishop of London - not only an occasion for personal celebration but a time of joy in helping to bring two 'World City' Diocese closer together.
